Twitter "Reviews" for the week ended 28th March 2010

A Closed Book (10, Ruiz) 42 Conti is solid but film is a mess, score doesn't help. Camera moves straight out of bad horror. Twists add zero.

Shutter Island (10, Scorsese) 90 Visually impressive, highly suspenseful and extremely atmospheric.Tension continuously ratcheted up.

Je veux voir (08, Hadjithomas/Joreige) 51 First talk, then view, finally abstraction. Ultimately unsubstantial - too much filler for 68 mins

Granny O'Grimm's Sleeping Beauty (08, Phelan) (s) 61 The granny is a fantastic character, a few laughs and nice story. Good light fun.

/Citizen Kane (41, Welles)/ 86 Camera angles, lighting, structure and ambition all spellbinding, shame the story never quite matches it.

No One Knows about Persian Cats (09, Ghobadi) 52 Films showing real people doing fictional things discombobulate me.Is this the real Tehran?

Lion's Den (Leonera) (08, Trapero) 88 Martina Gusman puts in a superb brave performance. The prison scenes are tight and visceral. Excellent

Storm (09, Schmid) 71 Marinca will end up a big star if there is any justice. Best when detailing politics vs. inner workings of the court.

Extract (09, Judge) 57 Undercurrent of classism in the portrayal of the working man, at times on the knuckle but mostly missing targets.

Nightwatching (07, Greenaway) 84 As beautifully shot as Barry Lyndon. Exposes the folly of thinking of now as modern, wonderful thriller

Afterschool (08, Campos) 94 Askes questions of modern society that are simply not being confronted now. This is deep and tightly thought out

The Box (09, Kelly) 48 The aspects that deal with the notion of free will are too simplistic to be powerful.Could not invest in this one bit

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (09, Oplev) 53 Strong when showing the painstaking research, less so with character portrayal -too broad,b&w

Heading South (05,Cantet) 65 Interesting curio but none of the insight of Human Resources,Time Out or The Class. The How was good, the why ??

The Page Turner (06, Dercourt) 62 Builds Tension effectively but the dialogue and plot are too "on the nose". Weak denouement also hampers
